The Courmayeur Valleys
Courmayeur is home to the stunning valleys of Val Ferret and Val Veny. All year round they provide the terrain for sports, walks and relaxation and offer breathtaking views of the tallest mountain in Europe. With Val Ferret bordering Switzerland and Val Veny bordering France, the two valleys form the Italian leg of the famous Tour of Mount Blanc.
The green pastures of Val Ferret, at the foothills of the Grandes Jorassess (4.208 m), have always been prime alpine grazing land. In the winter, they are the ideal destination for cross-country skiing, walking or snowshoeing. In the summer, the valleyoffers endless options for hiking, trekking, horse-back riding, biking, golf and fishing.
With its ragged peaks and wild landscapes, Val Veny is the doorway to the summit of Mont Blanc. Expect spectacular hikes amongst lakes hidden in the heart of glaciers and fairytale views. Val Veny is also an important historical and spiritual area. As a battlefield during the second World War, it is still possible to see the fortifications on the trail towards the Col de la Seigne on the French border. Closer to Courmayeur, the sanctuary of Notre Dame de la Guérison is a celebrated destination for Italian and international pilgrims.
